My Journey with a Life Changer

They say that everything happens for a reason. I totally agree. But it is not that easy to see when things are happening to you that you cannot understand. It is only after the fact, looking back that we can connect the dots. Then, we can understand that all the things happened for a reason.

If you really think about it, life is a mystery. I can even say that life is a miracle. We can predict all we want but nobody really knows what tomorrow holds (all of a sudden I am a philosopher...)

Never in my dreams have I thought that my life would be like this, until I met this precious friend. This person changed my life forever. After many attempts to have a friend like this, I finally gave up. You see, I had a checklist to follow, if I met any friend who did not meet these requirements, either there was not a chance to be with the person, or I will do my best to make them change (try that one..)

As I said, I finally gave up. It was too hard for me. I had to let go and focus on the things I could control. It did not take long, in fact it took only twelve days to finally meet my friend, whom I now call my best friend. We met in a very unusual way, but I did not really care. I finally met what I was looking for.

In a matter of days, my life changed forever, No more extensive traveling, no more eating stuff uncontrollably (very hard one as you know that in terms of food I am always open to opportunities), no more staying out longer than required (that was an easy one for me). I was then a very disciplined man, just because I met my now best friend. Who would not want a friend like that?

Most of all, since I met this person, I feel that my life has now meaning. I have someone to take care of, someone who cares about me in a way that I was not used to (for a very long time), and someone who tells me that all will be fine no matter what. Someone who loves me unconditionally

As you have guessed, I am talking about....my wife. Words cannot express how I am so thankful to have her in my life. I always tell her, and I mean it, that she is an answer to my prayers. But never, in my whole imagination would have thought it would be like this. All I had to to was to pray and let go on who, how, when this person would come in my life. It took only twelve days after my prayer, and life was never the same.

My prayer for you is to find someone who can change your life for the good, and if you have that special person, cherish him/her, cause life is too short not to appreciate every moment of it.

Moral of the story? Do you want to get married to a special person? Just create a check list of how the person should be and give all that up.

Always a pleasure

My Journey to a Press Conference

What a game 7 for the Raptors!! Kahwi shot was out of this world. I am still in shock.
But, let me talk about a game that happened a while back. Game 5.
As game 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers and our beloved Raptors ended with a huge victory from the local team, we headed down to the press conference location. The media people were lining up in front of the elevator and the length of the line was one of those I had never seen. We had to wait for the elevator to go down and back up at least three times before we could get in.
By the time we finally got in the elevator, the TV monitor inside the elevator was showing Serge Ibaka’ s press conference. Shoot, we were running late.
We finally got down, and as we were rushing to the conference room, I bumped into Toronto FC soccer superstar Jozy Altidore. He said hi to me and I said hi back. It was surreal. Then, in front of me, I saw this huge guy with tattoos all over his body. I didn’t know who he was, but he caught my attention. As it turn…

My Journey with Fidèle

It has been quite a few busy weeks that involved a round trip to Ottawa on Saturday and preaching during a Sunday church service (yes, I was surprised too when I was asked to do it). All this time I was thinking about what I would be writing about on this week’s blog. I had a vague idea, but I did not know how to formulate it.
That was until I received a message on Facebook from a friend asking me to speak at an upcoming event in January. The topic of my presentation would be “The Moment that Defined Your Life”. The person who sent me the invitation did not know that I had been thinking about the same topic days prior to her message.
It all started when I was at a Toronto Raptors game. I have been reporting on the games for almost two months now, but I am still in awe every time I am at the arena. I can’t believe this is happening to me. I have been in rooms with childhood idols, biggest stars of the game, coaches, reporters, you name it. And every time I am saying “wow”. The other day,…

My Journey with a man of faith

Many years ago, I heard a businessman say that if you don’t have a dream, be around dreamers. Now, I am going to add to his statement and say that if you don’t have faith, be around people of faith.
I met this gentleman over sixteen years ago when I first came to Canada. After a few months, we became roommates. It was very fun evenings among friends hearing and telling funny jokes. We didn’t know what we would become later, but I knew this guy was going somewhere. He was a devoted Christian man, playing music in two different churches. He had a picture in his room with a huge crowd on it and I knew he was meant to impact people’s lives. Little did I know I would be, many years later among the people who would be impacted by his life.
We went our separate ways but kept in touch. He later became a Pastor (and I was not surprised at all by that), and I attended his church a few times.
In 2013, I was going through one of the toughest moments of my life and I needed help. I didn’t know wh…
