My Journey With Skylar

This is a first. I am writing my blog from a phone. I love technology.
However, I am typing so slowly it is so funny to see. I guess that is why you are reading it on Tuesday instead of Monday.

It's been a few weeks that I have my new phone and I am enjoying every bit of it. There is a learning curve of course but so far so good. I love watching my now favourite show "The Shark Tank". My wife said to me that I have become addicted to the show and I think that she is right.

Speaking of my wife, she has now started college and she is really having fun. I haven't seen her this serious and focused and determined. And the results are showing. I am really proud of her.

With my wife going to school Monday to Friday, I have to rearrange my schedule accordingly (waking up at five in the morning is now a piece of cake). I am spending most of my day time with our daughter Skylar and I am having a blast.

I have learned so much about our daughter because of the time we spend together it's not even funny. It has come to a point when my wife is so amazed how I can put her to sleep in a heartbeat while in the past it was so hard to do. I know what makes her laugh, the kind of music she likes and the food she likes to eat and when (unlike her father who can eat anything anytime).

Through the whole process, I learned that making spending quality time with our loved ones as our priority can be a great thing. Most of the time we are so busy trying to make a living that we take our relationships for granted.

I believe that many relationships can be healed just by simply spending time together.

Moral of the story? Do you want to spend quality time with your loved ones? Just buy a new phone and you will be getting my blog quicker.

Always a pleasure

My Journey to a Press Conference

What a game 7 for the Raptors!! Kahwi shot was out of this world. I am still in shock.
But, let me talk about a game that happened a while back. Game 5.
As game 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers and our beloved Raptors ended with a huge victory from the local team, we headed down to the press conference location. The media people were lining up in front of the elevator and the length of the line was one of those I had never seen. We had to wait for the elevator to go down and back up at least three times before we could get in.
By the time we finally got in the elevator, the TV monitor inside the elevator was showing Serge Ibaka’ s press conference. Shoot, we were running late.
We finally got down, and as we were rushing to the conference room, I bumped into Toronto FC soccer superstar Jozy Altidore. He said hi to me and I said hi back. It was surreal. Then, in front of me, I saw this huge guy with tattoos all over his body. I didn’t know who he was, but he caught my attention. As it turn…

My Journey with Fidèle

It has been quite a few busy weeks that involved a round trip to Ottawa on Saturday and preaching during a Sunday church service (yes, I was surprised too when I was asked to do it). All this time I was thinking about what I would be writing about on this week’s blog. I had a vague idea, but I did not know how to formulate it.
That was until I received a message on Facebook from a friend asking me to speak at an upcoming event in January. The topic of my presentation would be “The Moment that Defined Your Life”. The person who sent me the invitation did not know that I had been thinking about the same topic days prior to her message.
It all started when I was at a Toronto Raptors game. I have been reporting on the games for almost two months now, but I am still in awe every time I am at the arena. I can’t believe this is happening to me. I have been in rooms with childhood idols, biggest stars of the game, coaches, reporters, you name it. And every time I am saying “wow”. The other day,…

My Journey to the Book

It has been quite overwhelming the last few days
I shared the link to my book to a few friends and the response has been a shock to me. The support has been unbelievable. All the comments are quite similar to this message that I received from a friend who has been more than a brother to me. Those of us who know him back in the day, we call him Kissa.
He wrote:
Hello bro I finally got a chance to watch the video. And I have 2 conflicting reactions: 1) what a powerful and incredible story man. It is amazing. I would love to rush put in on my facebook and twitter account for everybody to learn from you. How can I pay to order an autographed book? 2) I am also angry against you man. I was supposed to be your brother and friend. You could have asked me for a little help. Instead of living the fight alone. I hope one of the lessons learned in your journey would also be: Know your friends In any case, bravo and can't tell how much I respect you and I am proud of you Cheers
