My Journey to the Library

As I am getting to the library to get some work done, just before I start my computer, guess who I see in one of the meeting rooms? My friends Jim and Bonnie doing a presentation. They do not see me, but I am sitting right behind them.

Jim is so focused on the work at hand. So, I decide to text him. The text goes like this: Turn around, I am right behind you. There is no reaction. I just think that he is too focused to notice my text. I start working on my computer. About half an hour later, guess who is now behind me? Jim himself. I guess he saw my text. I knew this one was coming: what's up with your blog? He asks

So here I am. I don't want to be in trouble with Jim.

Thanks a lot for your positive feedback on my last blog. Do not worry. I am doing ok. I think I am even stronger than last week lol.

Yesterday I watched the movie "Pursuit of Hapiness" one more time. Oh boy, the guy went through some serious stuff. Do you remember the scene where he was finally offered the job? That is my favourite one. Will Smith played brilliantly that part.

I had a chance to see the real Chris Gardner speak at an event and he shared that the movie just showed a little portion of what he really went through. I was shocked when I heard that.

Something caught my attention while watching the movie. For those who have seen it, do you remember the part when he met his future boss on the street and he decided to go in the taxi with him? Of course he did not have the money to pay for the cab but he just wanted to have an opportunity for a job interview. He started talking about his skills but the guy was busy playing with a gadget that he found impossible to fix. Do you remember that?

Will Smith decided to stop talking about himself and offered to fix the gadget. His boss told him it was impossible but he did not know that Will has done it hundreds of times before. Before long, the gadget was fixed, to the amazement of his future boss. That "simple" thing got him the job interview that he badly wanted. If he was skilled enough to fix the gadget, doing the job would be a piece of cake.

That part of the movie made me think of so many little things that we know, or things that we have done in the past that can make a huge difference now. Simple things but that can put us above the competition. I remember my first job interview in Canada. I mentioned that I was a Basketball coach (which had nothing to do with the job description), and that alone was a proof that I was a team player. I got the job

Do you want to discover your hidden talents? Things that you have done in the past that can, maybe help you get the job you want? I have a friend who can help you with that. He does an amazing work. His name is Emmanuel Lopez a.k.a Motivatorman.

If you insist, I can hook you up with him.

Moral of the story?
Do you want to discover your hidden talent? Just go to the Library and Jim will stand behind you.

Always a pleasure.

My Journey to a Press Conference

What a game 7 for the Raptors!! Kahwi shot was out of this world. I am still in shock.
But, let me talk about a game that happened a while back. Game 5.
As game 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers and our beloved Raptors ended with a huge victory from the local team, we headed down to the press conference location. The media people were lining up in front of the elevator and the length of the line was one of those I had never seen. We had to wait for the elevator to go down and back up at least three times before we could get in.
By the time we finally got in the elevator, the TV monitor inside the elevator was showing Serge Ibaka’ s press conference. Shoot, we were running late.
We finally got down, and as we were rushing to the conference room, I bumped into Toronto FC soccer superstar Jozy Altidore. He said hi to me and I said hi back. It was surreal. Then, in front of me, I saw this huge guy with tattoos all over his body. I didn’t know who he was, but he caught my attention. As it turn…

My Journey to the Plan

Our baby is now six months old. Time really flies. It has been a real joy to spend time with her and see her grow daily.
I have received a number of positive comments about my last blog. I am glad you liked it. Let go and let God is a principle that I am learning to embrace. I have read about it a number of times, and I thought I was doing it, but I don't think I had totally released control until recently. How did it happen? So many things happened at the same time that led me realize that I had to let it go. One of them is the experience of my good friend Emmanuel Lopez a.k.a Motivatorman.
About a year ago, I met Emmanuel just to catch up after my summer in Africa. Emmanuel and I have been friends since 2005, and ever since we made a tradition to meet regularly to talk about...life. As we were talking, he shared with me that he was going through one of the toughest moments of his life. From our previous conversations, I knew things were not easy for him, but he always kept a posit…

My Journey to my meeting with Bob Proctor

He is a hero of mine, I have studied his material for years, I had met him once and at that time he even signed one of the books he gave to me. But, spending three hours in an intimate setting, hearing him calling my name, him talking to me from a few feet away was just a dream come true.

Bob Proctor is simply a genius. He has been studying the laws of success for over fifty years, but he has a simple way of explaining things that I found myself saying “wow” all the time. I have listened to his audios, read his book and saw hundreds of his videos. It has come to the point where I can finish his sentences before he finishes them. But seeing him live telling his story is another thing.

Call me crazy, but I just believe that I will end up working with him. I don't know how or when this is going to happen, but I know I will. It is with the same belief that I know I will one day meet Michael Jordan and Nelson Mandela (being with Pathe'O few weeks ago made me feel I am not that far…
