My Journey with Cecilia

It was almost four years ago when I met Cecilia for the first time. I was part of a coaching and training program where Cecilia was one of the three people who were assigned to me for coaching. The program was set to last seven months and included four trips to New York.

By the way, did you realize that I am back to blogging again? Yes Jim, I am back...

Now back to Cecilia.

During the seven months I spent working with Cecilia, I developed a friendship with her that is still there after four years. While I was trying my best to help her, she ended up being the one who inspired me to become a better person and a stronger leader.

A few weeks ago, while speaking to her on the phone, she mentioned to me that her business was thriving and that she was dealing better with life's challenges.  She was in a very good mood and I was happy for her and her business.  What she went on to tell with me during that conversation really surprised me; she told me that my coaching had impacted her life for the better. You see, during our seven month long coaching sessions, we had a phone call scheduled for every Monday at 5pm. Even to this day I can remember her telling me every time, “Patrick you are awesome."  Do you know why? Well, its because every Monday at 4:59pm, her phone rang. It was me calling her and I was never late. What she doesn’t know is that I had set an alarm for 4:55pm to remind me about the call.

Nevertheless, what mattered to her was that I was never late. It is something that inspired her so much that she started to implement it in her life and business. For me, it was something simple, but which had a huge impact in Cecilia’s life.

Now, Cecilia tells me, even her children are aware of time management. They are never late. Cecilia’s clients know her as a business woman who always delivers on time and for this they respect her.  Cecilia has raised her standards so high that everybody around her has to conform to her way of working and doing things. How cool is that?

I almost had tears in my eyes while listening to Cecilia share all of this with me.  You have no idea what a positive impact an encouraging word can have on someone; and on this day, I was the someone that Cecilia's words positively impacted.  I will admit that sometimes I doubt myself and have second thoughts about things; in fact, there are things in the past for which I feel guilty  but, when someone tells me the kind of words that Cecilia told me, it is like a fuel of new energy. I can go on for one more day. That is what it takes. Press on one more day.

Thank you Cecilia.

Moral of the story? Do you want me to have a good impact on your kids? Just set your alarm for 4:55pm and I will give you a call.

Always a pleasure

Patrick
The Journeyman.

My Journey to a Press Conference

What a game 7 for the Raptors!! Kahwi shot was out of this world. I am still in shock.
But, let me talk about a game that happened a while back. Game 5.
As game 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers and our beloved Raptors ended with a huge victory from the local team, we headed down to the press conference location. The media people were lining up in front of the elevator and the length of the line was one of those I had never seen. We had to wait for the elevator to go down and back up at least three times before we could get in.
By the time we finally got in the elevator, the TV monitor inside the elevator was showing Serge Ibaka’ s press conference. Shoot, we were running late.
We finally got down, and as we were rushing to the conference room, I bumped into Toronto FC soccer superstar Jozy Altidore. He said hi to me and I said hi back. It was surreal. Then, in front of me, I saw this huge guy with tattoos all over his body. I didn’t know who he was, but he caught my attention. As it turn…

My Journey to the Plan

Our baby is now six months old. Time really flies. It has been a real joy to spend time with her and see her grow daily.
I have received a number of positive comments about my last blog. I am glad you liked it. Let go and let God is a principle that I am learning to embrace. I have read about it a number of times, and I thought I was doing it, but I don't think I had totally released control until recently. How did it happen? So many things happened at the same time that led me realize that I had to let it go. One of them is the experience of my good friend Emmanuel Lopez a.k.a Motivatorman.
About a year ago, I met Emmanuel just to catch up after my summer in Africa. Emmanuel and I have been friends since 2005, and ever since we made a tradition to meet regularly to talk about...life. As we were talking, he shared with me that he was going through one of the toughest moments of his life. From our previous conversations, I knew things were not easy for him, but he always kept a posit…

My Journey to my meeting with Bob Proctor

He is a hero of mine, I have studied his material for years, I had met him once and at that time he even signed one of the books he gave to me. But, spending three hours in an intimate setting, hearing him calling my name, him talking to me from a few feet away was just a dream come true.

Bob Proctor is simply a genius. He has been studying the laws of success for over fifty years, but he has a simple way of explaining things that I found myself saying “wow” all the time. I have listened to his audios, read his book and saw hundreds of his videos. It has come to the point where I can finish his sentences before he finishes them. But seeing him live telling his story is another thing.

Call me crazy, but I just believe that I will end up working with him. I don't know how or when this is going to happen, but I know I will. It is with the same belief that I know I will one day meet Michael Jordan and Nelson Mandela (being with Pathe'O few weeks ago made me feel I am not that far…
