My Journey to a Great Month

Yes I know, I know. You missed me last week. I must admit. I miss my blog too (am I narcissist?). Jim, here I am. I cannot afford another reminder from you. I know you were thinking about how you were going to punish me if I didn't post my blog this week.

For many years, great things have happened to me in the month of August. It is then safe to say that I am expecting great things this upcoming month. I don't know what it will be this time, but the expectation is so high. By far, the month of August has been the best month of my life so far. And if nothing special happens, at least I will celebrate a few days. August 6 is our wedding anniversary, August 7 is my wife birthday, August 8 is my eleventh year in Canada and five years as a Canadian citizen, August 15 is my birthday and my younger brother is getting married on August 30. How about that!?

The month of July has been a great month as well. It's been a very busy month but I cannot complain at all. I did a few presentations here and there, a lot of meetings and a lot of great surprises. How about this testimonial from a lady who attended my presentation last week: Check this out:

"Before the seminar, I did not know what to expect.  I thought that probably the information presented would be whatever I can find on the internet about productivity.  Boy I was wrong.  Not only was your presentation entertaining, but also it was inspirational.  Your passion was very infectious, the only reason you can deliver the speech without your Powerpoint is because you were powered by passion and purpose.  Everything you talked came straight from your heart.  You do not need to memorize the speech, the message just flows.

I was impressed by your courage to pursue your dream.  I would never be able to do what you did, worked free just because you loved the work even when you were broke.

In comparison to you, I am at a much better situation......

So thank you for giving inspiration to keep walking on my journey and enjoy it along the way."

I won't share with you the entire message she sent me for confidential reasons, but I must tell you, her message was worth every struggle I went through. I now understand that everything we go through is for us to share with others once we are on the other side. As I heard someone say, there is no testimony without tests.

I am glad I was able to inspire my audience, my hope is to do more of these presentations.

Moral of the story? Do you want to get inspired? Just send me your gift on my birthday on August 15, and your will get a great message on your e-mail

Always a pleasure

Patrick
The Journeyman.

My Journey to a Press Conference

What a game 7 for the Raptors!! Kahwi shot was out of this world. I am still in shock. But, let me talk about a game that happened a while back. Game 5. As game 5 against the Philadelphia 76ers and our beloved Raptors ended with a huge victory from the local team, we headed down to the press conference location. The media people were lining up in front of the elevator and the length of the line was one of those I had never seen. We had to wait for the elevator to go down and back up at least three times before we could get in. By the time we finally got in the elevator, the TV monitor inside the elevator was showing Serge Ibaka’ s press conference. Shoot, we were running late. We finally got down, and as we were rushing to the conference room, I bumped into Toronto FC soccer superstar Jozy Altidore. He said hi to me and I said hi back. It was surreal. Then, in front of me, I saw this huge guy with tattoos all over his body. I didn’t know who he was, but he caught my

My Journey with Fidèle

It has been quite a few busy weeks that involved a round trip to Ottawa on Saturday and preaching during a Sunday church service (yes, I was surprised too when I was asked to do it). All this time I was thinking about what I would be writing about on this week’s blog. I had a vague idea, but I did not know how to formulate it. That was until I received a message on Facebook from a friend asking me to speak at an upcoming event in January. The topic of my presentation would be “The Moment that Defined Your Life”. The person who sent me the invitation did not know that I had been thinking about the same topic days prior to her message. It all started when I was at a Toronto Raptors game. I have been reporting on the games for almost two months now, but I am still in awe every time I am at the arena. I can’t believe this is happening to me. I have been in rooms with childhood idols, biggest stars of the game, coaches, reporters, you name it. And every time I am saying “wow”. Th

My Journey to my wedding

Where do I start? I don't really know. As I am waiting for my flight at Kigali airport, with tears in my eyes, I am thinking about the last few days. There are no words that can explain what I have experienced in this month of December 2010. As Phil Collins said, it's another day in paradise. The person who said that words are powerful was so right. It took a few words from my then girlfriend, now wife (are you kidding me!!!!), to start a series of events that led me to this moment. She just said: “Honey, this long distance thing is killing me”. Having been in a couple of long distance relationships, I knew what she meant. This time, it was different. I had to do something, otherwise, this relationship would end up like the other ones. I had promised myself to do whatever it took to make this one work. As I hung up the phone, I thought I had to move mountains. I had to find a way to meet her. Originally, my intention was to visit her in July 2011, however, this felt like a ce
