My Journey With a New Name

In less than three months, our daughter will celebrate her third birthday. I am really looking forward to that day. Now that she knows how to sing “happy birthday”, I guess she will be singing her own song. Many of you know that our daughter’s name is Skylar. I was surprised a few weeks ago when I showed her a picture of mine and asked her: “who is this?” She just said: “Skylar”. My daughter thinks that my name is Skylar. It is so funny when she calls me. It makes me laugh all the time. One of the organizations that I used to work for has asked me if I could volunteer and be a member of an advisory committee that is putting a program together to help French speaking fathers who are new immigrants to Toronto. I was so glad they asked me. I am eager to learn what other fathers are experiencing raising their children. Before our daughter was born, I can’t remember the last time I held a baby for more than five minutes in my arms. I really can’t. I think it was when my you

My Journey on the Road

I was mostly on the road last week. In fact, I did five presentations in three days. By the time I was done on Friday evening, I looked like a zombie. On Thursday, I arrived home around 10pm, and I had to prepare for my Friday’s presentations. There was a lot of research to be done. By the time I went to bed at 1am, the work was far from finished. I woke up two hours later. I worked from 3 am to 6, and half an hour later, I was out of the house. No wonder I looked like a zombie in the evening. On my way home that night, my Pastor texted me and this is how the conversation went: - Pastor: How was your workshop?  -Me: It was amazing. But I am so exhausted man - Pastor: Did you pray asking God to give you work? - Me: Yes I did - Pastor: Well, you have been served…  - Me: Hahaha. You are right. What else could I say? He was right However, I found myself in bed with a cold the next day. I won’t blame God for this one. I was doin

My Journey with a Great Artist

As I was doing some work on the computer on Saturday, my phone rang. It was my wife calling. "Maybe she misses me", I thought. I picked up the phone and I heard a very excited voice on the other side of the line. "Yeah I was right. She misses me", I thought again. When she started speaking, I knew it was not about me she was excited about. Too bad. She was excited about her brother. My wife's brother is an artist. In fact, he is a very talented artist. When I first met him, he gave me a CD of one of his songs, and I was amazed. The dude is really talented. I have spent time with him, in fact he spent an entire week with us when we just got married, and I can tell you that he is a very humble guy. You will never tell that he is the one singing those songs. He can spend an entire hour without saying a word. He is very calm. But when he hit the stage, it's like he is on something. The reason why my wife was very excited was because her brother was in a

My Journey Behind the Scenes

After a few months of preparations, we finally delivered our workshop last Saturday. It was both a feeling of relief and satisfaction to finish what we have started last year. We had an amazing group. Some of them were taking the class for the second time. I guess we were that good with the first one. I was glad to see my friend Arnaud in the Audience. I knew he would love it, but I didn't know he would accomplish his goal this fast. He shared with us what he wanted to see happening in his life in the next twelve months. What a surprise when, the next day, he texted me to let me know that he had achieved his goal in…24 hours!  I wish I could accomplish my goals that fast. I am fully rested after a very busy month f February. These last two days were mostly spent with my daughter. I am telling you. We have Celine Dion in our house. My daughter is singing all the time. It is crazy. As my daughter was taking her nap
